On the evening of November 12, a violent explosion suddenly occurred near the West High-Speed Railway Station in Nanchang City (Nanchang) Jiangxi Province (Jiangxi), China. The accident brought the high-speed rail line to a standstill. No casualties have been reported.
The official Weibo of the Nanchang Fire Department announced that, at around 8 p.m. on November 12, a transformer next to the Ruidu Railway belonging to the Nanchang West Railway Station, Honggutan District, Nanchang city caught fire, spreading to the surrounding vegetation. By 9:15 p.m., the fire was out and there were no injuries.
A video posted by Twitter account Dawn shows a transformer near the West Nanchang high-speed railway station emitting strong sparks and noise for a long time. People were fleeing. Then, at the scene of the explosion, a fire broke out.
The account “The first year of the Qing Dynasty” also posted a video showing a close-up of the explosion and said the location of the incident was at West Nanchang 3 Railway Station.
The short-circuit that caused the explosion lasted for nearly a minute. The Yi Li account posted a video showing several passengers watching the sudden accident from afar on the platform. The account added: “Another explosion, at the Nanchang West Railway Station, it is suspected that the high voltage power line caught fire, there was a violent noise at the scene! I don’t know if anyone died.”
A local netizen commented on the situation after the accident, “My friend originally took the train code D6528 from Xiamen station at 3:47 p.m. yesterday, and was scheduled to arrive Nanchangxi Station at 8:37 p.m. As a result, he was unable to enter the station, which is miles away from Nanchang West Station. The train did not move until 4:59 a.m. this morning and did not arrive at the station until 5:12 p.m. in West Nanchang. He said that the station was really dark.”
