A survey found neither side of the aisle completely endorses the incumbent or previous president for the next general election.

SSRS concluded neither the Democratic Party nor GOP memberships fully support giving Joe Biden or Donald Trump another four years in the Oval Office.

The Pennsylvania-based market research firm confirmed 51% of Democrats polled prefer to nominate a different presidential candidate. Only 45% of them want Biden to return to the White House for a second term.

The sample study of 1,527 adults also found 49% of Republican voters want to nominate someone else for president. Half of them still want Trump back for the 2024 election.

More GOP respondents did not want Trump to be president again (19%) compared to Democrats who disapproved of Biden (16%).

However, more Democrats believe Biden cannot defeat the Republicans in the next election (18%). Only 11% of Republicans believe Trump cannot win in 2024.

Biden’s most significant supporter base are people of color (55%), those aged 45 and older (52%), and anyone without a college degree (51%).

“The new poll also suggests that the hesitance over both Biden and Trump stems more from electability and other concerns than because their partisans do not want them to be president,” CNN, which commissioned the poll, reported.

Trump’s strongest backers are those who dispute the 2020 election outcome (64%) as well as white people without a college degree (60%).

The pay-television broadcaster also found few Democrat or Republican voters who knew which other presidential candidates to vote for.

“Very few have specific candidates in mind, underscoring how distant–and potentially mutable–the 2024 race remains,” it said.

The poll was randomly conducted between Jan. 10 and Feb. 6, 2022. It reported a sampling error margin of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.
