Nassau Coliseum lit up with the energetic voices of 13,917 attendees who joined with Nicole Raviv singing the National Anthem prior to game 6 between New York Islanders and Boston Bruins on Wednesday night, June 11.

Nicole Raviv, who is a regular singer of “The Star-Spangled Banner” as the opening act at Islander games, said that it was something that the “Islander fans organically created,” Fox News reported.

At Game 4 last Saturday, Raviv went through technical problems with her microphone. The Islanders fans immediately backed her up by raising their voices together.

Raviv “continued to sing, giving honor and respect to the national anthem, and the fans jumped in as they usually do during playoffs—but sang louder than ever to make up for what happened,” Fox News reported.

“I felt so honored to be singing with a fanbase who is united, passionate, and who is there for each other. They had my back. It was truly wonderful,” Raviv told Fox News.

Therefore, at Game 6, she intended to lower her microphone to give the stage to the Islander fans shortly after she started the singing.

“My heart is full. The coliseum will forever have the best backup singers in the #NHL,” Raviv wrote on Twitter.

“It was truly their energy that made me turn my mic and give them the stage. They bring such an electric atmosphere to the Coliseum, they needed to be heard,” Raviv said.

“The Islanders fans demonstrated a celebration of our people, our flag, and our country coming together as one,” she continued.

“The reactions are filled with pride and emotion. Thousands of people together again, singing in unison after such a difficult year where we were forced to be apart. It is truly incredible to be witnessing such camaraderie and live fans with a full stadium again.”

As it was dubbed by many, the magnificent moment was captured on video and posted widely on social media.

Head coach of New York Islanders Barry Trotz tweeted about the empowering atmosphere at the stadium that night.

“What a great atmosphere…it was deafening,” he said.
